A welcoming and innovative Bed & Breakfast, with a private car park, close to town.
We can be found at 800 m.
from the motorway exit, in the immediate vicinity of the town centre and the railway stations.
Varese Golf Club and Panorama Golf Club are only a few kilometres away.
Malpensa Intercontinental Airport and Lake Maggiore can be reached in only 25 minutes.
Thanks to its many hills and lakeside villas, each set down in the middle of lawns, flowerbeds and trees, Varese is nick-named “Garden City”.
Right in the centre lies the biggest of them all: Palazzo Estense, which dates back to 1787.
Once the summer and autumn residence of duke Francesco III of the House of Este, ruler of the city, it is now our Town Hall.
The splendid park around it recalls the Schõnbrunn palace in Vienna and is open to the public until sunset.
Inside the park, on Mirabello Hill, you can admire Villa Litta Modigliani.
Before resuming your tour of the villas you ought to stop at the Basilica of S.
Vittore with its baroque belltower and St.
Johns Baptistery.
Not far away, Villa Ponti, erected between 1858 and 1860 and today owned by the Chamber of Commerce, is an important congress centre.
Of the same period is Villa Panza; the last member of the Menafoglio Litta Panza family, donated to the Italian Foundation for Environment, together with his private collection of Contemporary Art.
Somewhat higher up, the Casbeno district is towered over by Villa Recalcati.
Built in the 17th century, it was transformed into the “Grand Hotel Excelsior”.
Since 1931 it is the seat of our Provincial Council.
Towards the outskirts of our city, in the district of S.
Ambrogio, ring the bell at Villa Toeplitz: situated in a beautiful natural landscape, it has a park where your ears are caressed by the whisper of fountains and your eyes by gardens Italian style.
A winding uphill road will take you from there to the foot of two jewels that glitter in the sunlight high above our town.
On the right, at 880 m., Sacro Monte (the Holy Mountain).
14 chapels scattered along the path-sides each contain against a background of frescoes life-size terracotta statues that represent the Rosary mysteries.
A sanctuary is embraced by the tiny village of S.
Maria del Monte, which overlooks the town of Varese.
On the left, at 1227 m., the massif of Campo dei Fiori, a natural preserve since 1984.
The whole area is rich in fauna and flora, and a large number of trails weave through it.
