Welcome to La Dimora Del Cardinale an old building dating from the 18th century, situated in the old town centre of Maratea, completely renovated last 7th july 2001, nowadays a careful restoration, in full respect of the ancient architectural balances, gives back to "La Dimora Del Cardinale" all the charm of the ancient artistic interest.
What is the best way to begin a wonderful day under Maratea's sun? Going down the main corridor made of "cotto" tiles you will get onto surrounding terrace.
Here you can have your breakfast served among jasmin and buganvillea.
From such a beautifull spot you will enjoy the view of the mountain which overlooks the ancient village of Maratea before plunging itself into the tyrrhenian sea and a wonderfull view to a superb spring fountain.

The origin of Maratea dates back from bronze age.
Maratea is one of the most famous centres in Basilicata.
The town is situated at the foot of mount St.
Biagio overlooking the Policasto Gulf where it's possible to visit the seaside resorts of Acquafredda, Fiumicello, Porto, Marina and Castrocucco.
The town includes: Maratea Superiore which is the most ancient and highest part of the town and Maratea Inferiore representing the modern part.
In the highest part of the town stands the Sanctuary of St.
Biagio having a three-arch renaissance portal and housing a 17th century chapel and 18th century marble bas-relief the celebrations in honour of St.
Biagiotake place between the 1st and the 2nd Sunday of May.
The statue, covered by a red cloth is shouldered on foot along pathways of Maratea.
Along the coast you can see a lot of "grottos" some can be reached only by boat.
The most important grottos are the Grotte dei Pipistrelli (i.e.
bats grottos) and the Grotta dei Sogni (grotto of dreams).
