The idea- project that lead to the achievement of the Gallery Museum Valenti Gonzaga was conceived by Alfonso Rocco Linardi, lecturer of the Faculty of Engineering - University of Pavia, branch of Mantua.

The Gallery, Chapel and Rooms of the Palace, once secret and exclusive, are now shown and offered to visitors in all their magnificence.
They represent, as Professor Rodolfo Signorini states: “a claim of the awareness of the high value of the human cultural and artistic civilization in Mantua that rise to be a majestic, solemn testimony of this value.”

The Gallery Museum Valenti Gonzaga, which also incorporates the Art & Culture Center dedicated to Alfonso Monfardini (1887-1965) - painter and sculptor, genuine bohemian, one of the most appreciated artists in Mantua - aims to be the privileged point of reference for lovers of Art, Culture and History of Virgil‘s territory.

The objectives pursued by the executives of the Gallery Valenti Gonzaga will direct and develop towards several points:
- Carrying out the museum elitist activity , with exclusive and guided tours also by night; arranging art exhibitions of high value; promoting and organizing literary prizes and exhibitions, conferences and cultural events.
- Developing educational projects with the aim of spreading the ideal of the beauty of the Art, as taught Caspar David Friedrich (1774 - 1840), painter of the German Romanticism, who more than any other celebrated the beauty as experience of the sublime, considering the Art as the language of a perfectly pure soul and the only real source of the heart.
- Showing the magnificent interior decorated in the manner of the seventeenth century, including the spectacular vault, the frescos and stuccos on the walls of the Camerone, a great celebrating room, commissioned by the Marquis Odoardo Valenti Gonzaga (1620 - 1677) to great and illustrious artists like Geffels and Barberini to celebrate, through the reproduction of the coat of arms, the women who entered the family Valenti Gonzaga.
During the visit at the palace it seems to meet Isabella Gonzaga, the mother of Odoardo Valenti and the two wives of the latter, Eleonora Coppini and Laura di Castelbarco, a young and extremely beautiful lady.
- Leading visitors into the rooms where the rites were held by the family, as in the Chapel, where Cardinal Silvio Valenti Gonzaga privately celebrated the Holy Mass and the children members of the illustrious family were confirmed in front of friends and godfathers staying in the contiguous stuccoed Camerone; in the Gallery, where guests were received, and in the other rooms of the palace (Room of the triumph of time over fame- Room of the coat of arms) where they slept among stuccoes suggesting the noble offspring – The eagles and lions simbolizes in fact the Valenti, Castelbarco, Bentivoglio of Aragon, and Gambara Arrivabene families.
This fascinating tour will excite a feeling of great pleasure and a joy for the beautiful things, which is independent from their possession…
